How to get Food License Online from FSSAI using Mobile? 2026 Step-by-Step Guide
In the previous parts we have discussed about the basics of FSSAI, required documents and fee structure for the official registration.
This is the last edition of the series, we will be giving you a detailed step-by-step mobile layout blueprint to facilitate you in a hassle-free registration process on the official FoSCoS portal.
Prior to hitting the Portal, you must complete the following pre-requisites:
Double check before processing, to keep the flow of processing smooth on your smartphone:
Take a clear, well-lit picture with the smartphone camera of your passport-size photograph and Aadhaar Card and store it in a separate folder.
Have all your online payment options (GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, net banking) handy.
Detailed Step-by-Step Mobile Registration Process
Enter the Official Portal link into your browser.
Step 1: Go to Official Portal link in your browser.
Open Google Chrome browser on your android or iOS mobile device. Enter and head over to the official FoSCoS FSSAI Official Website.
If you are on the small side, for best viewing on mobile, click the three dots at the top-right of Chrome, and turn on the ‘Desktop Site' setting.
To complete this step, follow the guide below:
Click the big icon that is indicated as ‘Apply/License Registration' on the main dashboard interface.
Choose your state as 'Tamil Nadu' from the drop down location menu.
In Step 3, you will identify your business category (Eligibility Criteria).
The system will now present you with a couple of classification industry sectors:
Manufacturers: If you have a good food processing factory or packaging plant, choose this.
Trade/Retail: Select this option if you have a supermarket, Grocery Store (Kirana), wholesale trading or catering storage.
Food Services: This is the most appropriate choice for small restaurants, messes, fast food counters, tea stalls and mobile food trucks.
After selecting, enter your operational limits. Select the 'Up to 12 Lakhs' option and click on ‘Proceed’ if your business turnover is safely less than 12 Lakhs per year.
Step 4 - Completing Digital Form A
The core template Form A will open on the screen when you click on 'Click here to apply for Registration'. Complete it accurately:
Applicant/Company Name: Type your full Legal Name or your Restaurant/Shop's brand name.
Designation: You are the only owner of the establishment, so you should select Individual/Proprietor.
Address of Premises: Fill in the exact physical address of your Kitchen / Shop (District, Village and Pincode are critical fields)
If your personal residential address is the same as your shop address, then box 'Yes'. If not, deselect it and enter your home address.
Contact Details: Give your first work cell phone number and active e-mail address. Then choose the number of Years you want your license to last (between 1 and 5 Years).
Food Category: Choose the food categories you are going to trade or prepare (eg. Dairy products, Bakery items, Ready-to-eat meals) from the list and tap 'Save & Add'.
Step 5: Uploading Your Stored Documents
Click on the upload button of the respective fields to upload your passport size photo and Aadhaar Card (Identity Proof).
Attach your official Rent Agreement for address proof validation if it is a rented property or a recent Electricity Bill if it is your property.
Step 6: Online Government Fee Payment
Once you have carefully read all of your entries, click submit. An instant OTP verification code will be sent to your mobile and email. Enter the token to proceed to the next step.
The app should now bring you to the primary payment gateway, which is the interface. The processing fee for the basic operation of the registration will be flat ₹100 for 1 year.
This payment can be done instantly using the UPI app that is already available in the smartphone like Google Pay or PhonePe. If the transaction is successful, an Application Receipt with a unique Reference Number will be created. Quickly capture a screenshot or save it as a PDF to track it.
When and how will you get the certificate?
Upon receipt of the digital form at the portal, the assigned regional Food Safety Officer (FSO) will check the information you provided in your documentation. Once all the steps are followed exactly as per the official procedures, your certificate will be officially approved in 7-15 working days.
A digital copy of your Food License certificate in FSSAI is instantly sent to your registered email inbox as downloadable PDF. It is really easy to get a good quality color print of it, laminate it, and hang it clearly in your establishment so that your customers can see it.
